Hello Yorkton Curling Club Members,
Your board met on Nov 1st and Dec 6th so I have some information from those meetings-
1. Junior Program Needs Assistance
We have had an overwhelming response to our Sunday afternoon juniors. In order for us to be able to accommodate these future superstars we need volunteers to assist. Any level of curling skill is welcomed. If you are able to give us a hand for all or part of the season please let Neil know. You can leave a message at 306- 783-4127
There are currently 21 new beginnners registered and 30 children that are returning to the program
The children are 9years of age or older. They are split into 2 groups with the younger curlers at1:00pm and the older more skilled are at 2:15pm. They receive instruction in basic skills -encouraging good sportsmanship and safety on the ice. Our leaders are Danielle Mills and Tessa Datema and they have developed an excellent program.
2. New Handles for Rocks
The board has made a decision to replace the current rock handles. Sponsorships are available at the following costs:
Individual handles -$150 each
4 handles -$135 each
8 handles -$120 each
As it has been over 20 years since the sponsorships have been changed it is seen as good value for an advertising dollar - works out to about $10/year.
3. TV Info Boards
We have finally moved towards the 21st century! The sheet assignments and schedule can now be viewed on one if the large TV screens in the center of the lobby. Many thanks to board member Dustin Brears for setting this up for us.
4. YCC will be running an OPEN spiel for club members on Jan 21-23 2022. It will be capped at 16 teams and will be a triple knock out. Sign up at the office.
