Welcome to the 2022/2023 curling season.
We have lots of excitement happening this year. The season is set to start Tuesday Oct 11,
2022
1. Neil is taking on an apprentice. Ryan Douglas has taken the position.
There is no one better to learn from and are plans are that Neil will be able to take
some much deserved time off once Ryan is up and running.
2. CURLING IN THE PARKLAND
Sunday Oct 23rd- CURLSASK is running a junior camp Prairieland Viterra Curling
Camp for ages 10-18 from8:30 am-4:00 pm.
CURLSASK certified instructors along with some volunteers from the club will help
these young curlers advance their game.
Monday Oct 24th- YCC, CURLSASK, Viterra, Kinsmen, and local business
sponsors are inviting school children ages 11-18 yrs to experience the sport of curling.
The children will be instructed in on ice skills, strategy, fitness and nutrition.
Kirk Muyers will be a guest of YCC for the day with the children and will address a
Chamber of Commerce luncheon at noon. Tickets available from the Chamber.
Neil will be posting signup sheets at the rink for anyone wanting to volunteer for
these dates. We won't know how many folks we need until the deadline of Oct 1.
3. CURLSASK EVENTS
YCC has opened up once again for CurlSask sanctioned events. We will be hosting
3 possibly 4 spiels.
-Nov 4-6 U15 Triples and U21 Mixed Doubles
-Jan 6-8 U21 Last Chance Qualifier
-Mar (TBD) Mens and Ladies Sask Tour Qualifiers
4. Regular leagues will continue the same as last year.
Monday night- Knights of Columbus Thursday Night- Competitive League
Tuesday/Thursday Afternoon- Seniors Friday Nights- Open ice.
Wednesday night - Mixed Doubles
In addition to the CURLSASK events we are planning some competitions.
Stay tuned for dates for Senior Skins, Mixed Doubles, Open spiel with competitive and
recreational pools and a Family Fun Spiel.
